It is the main peak of a group of hills in Edinburgh,
situated in the centre of the city.
Many claim its name is derived from King Arthur's legends, as many other hilltops in Britain.
A hillfort used to sit
on the summit
offering a 360 degrees
panoramic view.
It was likely
the centre of power
of the Votadini,
Celtic people of the Iron Age,
who were the subject
of the poem Y Gododdin
written about 600 AD,
in their hillfort on Edinburgh Castlecrag.
